24 END
Referring to the previous correspondence herein I am now
asked by Mr. Chai of Yee and Sing Laundry 57 Old Town Street,
Plymouth whether there is or will be any obstacle placed in
the way of a very few Chinese who having been born in Hong Kong
are British subjects landing in England and going to Cardiff and
to this place Plymouth to work in the Chinese laundries certain
work of which the Chinese alone understand and can do. I shall
be much obliged if you will communicate your reply which I hope
will be favourable direct to Mr. Chai at his aforesaid address
and not to me.
I am
Yours faithfully
(Sgd) C.W. Slaughter.
P.S.
Mr. Chai is a very law abiding, very superior and very
hard working Chinese who enjoys a good reputation in Plymouth
and is much respected by people.
He much lacks the assistance of a Chinese to work in his
laundry which business needs much special help which only the
Chinese can give him.
